As my time in beautiful Parrsboro comes to a close, I’ll give a brief wrap-up. In addition to the poetry events mentioned in my last post, I had a wonderful workshop morning with a group of local writers. I already knew that Canada produces some exceptional writers; now I know that a lot of them reside in Nova Scotia.
The standard content of the workshop was shortened a little to allow us some time to respond, as a group, to the artworks on display in the ekphrastic exhibition. The exhibition was kicked-off by judith S bauer and yours truly. We sent a callout for submissions of both visual and written works to which other artists and writers responded and the resulting exhibition is exciting. Set out in the beautiful gallery space on the second floor of the historic Main & Station building, it provides the opportunity for members of the public to interact with the art on display.
Here are some of the pieces I managed to capture:
We also enjoyed an entertaining evening with New York artist Bill Liebeskind and avant-garde poet/singer/artist Peggy Verzett from Holland. The pair had been working in the church in which we were sleeping and it was wonderful to see the artworks and poetry inspired by their time in this beautiful region of Nova Scotia. Peggy also sang, accompanied by Bill on the old church organ.
As a result of meeting so many wonderful writers, there will be quite a few Canadian publications appearing on my ‘What I am Reading’ page in the coming weeks and months.
My heartfelt thanks to Harvey Lev and judith S bauer who offer residencies and run numerous events here at Main & Station nonesuch, Parrsboro.
In these surrounds, poetry and ideas have poured from my pen like sweet, sweet nectar.

It was great to meet you and Gary and have you enjoy the part of the world we live in.
Thanks Claudia. It was so good to meet you too and I really enjoyed seeing your artwork. Hope to have workshop notes up next week.
